What do we teach you?

We start (of course) with a good cup of coffee, and with the basics of map reading. Because with a (paper/digital) topo map you can already go a long way. During this introductory theory session are will learn:

  • why you should take a map with you on your running or walking adventures

  • which elements and information you will find on it

  • how to use contour lines and coordinates

  • how to determine a walking direction and distance

  • how a compass works and how you can use it when navigating

After all this, it's 'coffee time'. Coffee drinkers among us regularly crave their 'cup of energy' on the go. The CoffeeCrusader provides all the information to be able to serve yourself the best coffee during your outdoor activities.

  • why do certain coffee beans taste better than others?

  • what different devices can I take with me on my trips?

  • freshly ground coffee beans, how do I do that in the middle of nature?

Devices such as the AeropressMoka pot and Percolator are discussed.

We will go out together for the rest of the day. Through some practical and educational exercises with map and compass, and all necessary coffee attributes in our backpack, we move to a beautiful place where you then get to work on making your perfect coffee, in the middle of nature.

Got hungry? We close in style, with fresh pancakes, because yes ... that's something that goes well with that coffee...

What do you need to bring ?

  • A compass - If you don't have this, you can use this one toorent or purchase with us

  • A ruler

  • A drawing pencil or pen

  • A thermos

  • A daypack

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear

  • Your own packed lunch
